From the moment someone is referred to Hospice Mid-Northland our team works to improve the quality of life of the patient and their family/whanau facing the issues associated with life-threatening illness.
We support the physical (tinana), social (whanau), emotional (hinengaro), spiritual (wairua) and cultural needs in a place of their choosing, by providing services with empathy, respect and sensitivity.
Our clinical and social support team who have specialist training and make sure the holistic needs of patients and their families/whanau are met 24/7.
A majority of the community team's work is simply to spend time listening to our patients, assessing their on-going and changing needs and making sure their symptoms are managed accordingly. our nurses also work closely with patients' GPs and other services such as oncology departments, district nurses and outreach nurses, to provide what is needed.
