    Farming for Hospice

Since 2011, Farming for Hospice has given Mid-Northland farmers a practical way to help fund free specialist palliative care. By partnering with Hospice through livestock, networks, and rural fundraising support, local people can help keep care available close to home.

    Support through farming

Rural supporters can help Hospice in a way that aligns with their land, livestock, and local networks.

    Give in a practical way

The programme turns practical farm support into funding that strengthens Hospice services across Mid-Northland.

    Help local hospice care

Funds raised through Farming for Hospice go directly toward care for patients, whānau, and the wider community.

    How Farming for Hospice Works

Hospice purchases livestock and tags the animals as part of the programme. Farmers then graze Hospice stock alongside their own with no extra workload, and when the animals are sold, the proceeds return directly to Hospice care. A portion can then be reinvested to grow the programme and bring more rural supporters on board.

The initiative is strengthened by experienced local supporters including Marin Urlich, and Okaihau Transport Ltd, whose knowledge and practical help keep it moving.

A Rural Way to Support Local Care

Farming for Hospice gives rural supporters a practical way to contribute to the care Hospice Mid-Northland provides across our community.

    Ways to Support

    Donate livestock or proceeds

Contribute animals, sale proceeds, or other practical support that helps grow the programme.

    Support through farm-related fundraising

Use local sales, events, or rural initiatives to raise funds that go straight back into care.

    Connect Hospice with rural networks

Help spread the word through farming communities, suppliers, transport connections, and local supporters.

    Help keep care available locally

Every contribution strengthens Hospice Mid-Northland’s ability to support patients and whānau close to home.
