The gardens and grounds at Hospice Mid-Northland have received a great deal of care over the past year.
Volunteers have weeded, replanted, laid mulch and bark, cared for established trees, planted daffodils and added edging around the grounds. Their work is practical, but it is also deeply meaningful.
A place to pause
A new pergola has been built above the remembrance chair facing the memorial tree on the fundraising shed.
The memorial tree carries engraved remembrance pieces purchased in memory of people who have died. The pergola gives people a sheltered place to sit quietly, reflect and remember loved ones.
The space is open to patients, whānau, visitors and members of the wider community.
Care shown through action
Hospice grounds are part of the way people experience Hospice Mid-Northland. A tidy path, a cared-for garden or a quiet place to sit can all help create a sense of welcome and calm.
Lee played a major role in the work, and Hospice Mid-Northland will acknowledge the full group of contributors once all names are confirmed.
Thank you to our volunteers
Hospice Mid-Northland thanks the volunteers who continue to give their time, energy and care across the grounds, shops, events, transport and many other areas.
