Our Care
Our clinical and social support services are provided free of charge, 24 hours a day to anyone with a life-limiting illness. This may include heart failure, multiple sclerosis, cancer, motor neurone disease, emphysema or other illnesses for which there is no cure. Our care is not limited to end of life and, with many patients and their families/whanau, a longer-term relationship can develop.
Specialist Care
Our Palliative Care Nurses are trained and accredited in palliative care. They work closely with our Family Support Co-Ordinator, who is an experienced counsellor providing psychosocial support for patients and their families as they face the issues associated with a life-limiting illness. We make sure that our patient's symptoms are managed well, so that they can live the best that they can for as long as they are able.
Our nurses do not wear uniforms and our vehicles are unmarked, so we can visit you in confidence and maintain your privacy. Meet our Team here.
Holistic Approach
Hospice Mid-Northland and Far North Community Hospice, provides you with a complete package of care and emotional support. Our approach is holistic and we support the physical (tinana), social (whanau), emotional (hinengaro), spiritual (wairua) and cultural needs of our patients and their whanau with empathy, respect and sensitivity.
We spend time listening to our patients, assessing their on-going and changing needs in partnership with their existing health care team (eg General Practitioner, Oncology Departments).
