Patients
Palliative care assists people with a life-limiting illness to live the very best that they can, for as long as are able. Our support is holistic, and it is available for patients and their families as they face end-of-life challenges.
You can find out more about our care and our care team in this section. We welcome all enquiries and a specialist palliative care nurse can be reached 24 hours a day, so please contact us.
Tiakina Te Kaitiaki (Caring for Carers)
The Tiakina Te Kaitiaki (Caring for Carers) service is provided to support the informal Carers* of those living with a life-limiting condition in the last year of life and not already enrolled with Hospice. The aim is to support the Carer's overall wellbeing by helping them connect to resources, funding and community organisations that strengthen them to continue their vital caring role.
*An informal Carer is any person, e.g. a family/whānau member, friend or neighbour who is giving regular 24/7 ongoing assistance to another person.
